Once Upon A Debutante

Le Bal was founded by Ophelie Renouard, who enjoys tradition and can be regarded as perpetuating elitism, contrasting with the new generation of attendees who are grappling with the term debutante and what that means as a young woman in a modern world. In this documentary we will see their personal struggles, family pressure and what being a high society debutante really means in today’s modern culture. We will follow these young women as they embark on a journey of ‘coming out’ at the highest degree in a time where opinions around race, gender, culture and class have shifted and the world has evolved.
