Millennium Actress

A legendary actress Chiyoko Fujiwara suddenly quitted at the height of her career. 30 years later, filmmaker Genya Tachibana and his assistant Kyoji Ida are going to the mountain to visit Chiyoko, to make a documentary for her. Tachibana hands her a key that she lost many years ago. The gate of Chiyoko’s memories is opened, and she starts to tell her story. As the decades pass, Chiyoko is transformed from a teen with big dreams into a full-blown celebrity, while her cinematic characters span various eras, from ancient Japan to the distant future.
